Focus & Scope

Focus:

Paideía Christiana: Journal of Evangelization, Catechesis, and Religious Education in Asia publishes research articles exploring the church as a vibrant, transformative, and fully functioning community, deeply rooted in local Asian contexts, and actively engaging with the broader world. The journal emphasizes grass-roots theological reflections that emerge from practical experiences of being church, moving beyond theoretical and predictable ecclesiological discourse.

Scope:

The journal provides an international forum for scholars and practitioners from diverse church denominations and communities in Asia to present empirical studies, case studies, and reflections on ecclesiology from the grass-roots perspective. It particularly invites research focusing on:

  • The Church and other religious communities: Interfaith dialogue, collaboration, and community harmony rooted in concrete Asian realities.
  • Indigenous churches: Emerging expressions of Christianity uniquely shaped by indigenous traditions, cultures, and wisdom.
  • The Church as a transformative community: Practical examples of Christian engagement with justice, peace-building, social development, and communal transformation.
  • The Church as universal and local: Explorations into how universal Christian values become genuinely incarnate within specific local Asian settings.

Special attention is given to studies that demonstrate how local wisdom and Christian values mutually enrich each other, contributing meaningfully to justice, peace, and social interaction in Asian contexts.
