About the Journal

Tradition and Modernity: Journal of Asian Religion and Society is an international, peer-reviewed journal that explores the dynamic relationship between religion and society in Asian contexts. The journal provides a platform for interdisciplinary scholarship that engages with anthropology, psychology, sociology, and phenomenology of religion to understand how individuals and communities experience, practice, and communicate religious and spiritual life.

It welcomes empirical and theoretical contributions addressing topics such as interreligious conflict and reconciliation, religious cooperation, identity and belonging, ritual and symbolism, and the lived experience of faith in everyday life. Special attention is given to how religious traditions—both rooted and emerging—respond to the challenges and opportunities of cultural change, pluralism, and globalization in contemporary Asia.

Through critical engagement with both tradition and modernity, the journal fosters scholarly dialogue that is locally grounded and globally relevant, encouraging contributions from scholars across disciplines, faith traditions, and cultural perspectives.
